Subject: 9561/Interim Budget/1991-92 Date: Mon, 7 May 1990 15:16:00 -0500 ORDINANCE NO. 9561 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN INTERIM BUDGET AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE USUAL AND ORDINARY EXPENSES OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT FOR THE MONTHS OF JULY, AUGUST, AND SEPTEMBER, 1991, PENDING THE ADOPTION OF THE 1991-92 ANNUAL BUDGET. WHEREAS, the City Council, for reasons beyond its control, will not be able to pass an annual budget prior to July 1, 1991; and WHEREAS, in order that the City may provide for the operation of the various departments, agencies, commissions, boards and divisions of the City government until such time as the annual Budget Ordinance is passed and tax rate fixed, it is necessary that an Interim Budget be adopted for the months of July, August, and September, 1991. NOW, THEREFORE SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That there be and is hereby appropriated to the various departments, agencies, commissions, boards and divisions of the City government for the months of July, August, and September, 1991, to be used for the payment of salaries, wages, and the usual ordinary expenses of the City government, including interest on and principal of all Bonds maturing between the beginning of the fiscal year 1991-1992 and the adoption of the annual Budget and appropriation Ordinance, an amount not to exceed one-twelfth (1/12), for each of said months, of the amount appropriated to the various departments, agencies, commissions, boards and divisions of the City government in the annual Budget and appropriation Ordinance of 1990-1991. The amount expended from the above appropriation shall be charged against the appropriation to the various departments, agencies, commissions, boards and divisions in the annual Budget Ordinance for the fiscal year 1991-1992. SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That the provisions of Section 4 of Ordinance No. 9423 (being the 1990-91 Budget Ordinance) be and is hereby adopted by reference to the extent now in force and effect under statutes of the State of Tennessee. Further, the provisions of Chapter 387, Public Acts of 1971, as amended, to the extent applicable to municipalities, be and are hereby adopted by reference; and all of the aforesaid are made a part of this Interim Budget Ordinance. SECTION 3. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That if any section, sentence or word of this Ordinance should be declared invalid by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the remaining sentences, sections or words of this Ordinance, but the same shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 4. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this Ordinance shall take effect two (2) weeks from and after its passage, the public peace, health and safety requiring it.
